Longtime city contractors plead guilty to $1M insurance fraud scam

According to the Manhattan District Attorney's office, two brothers who have worked as contractors in New York City for years admitted to misclassifying workers

Nicholas Dragonetti, 49, and Vito Dragonetti, 53, both admitted to filing false documents and their businesses

Dragonetti Brothers Landscaping and D.B. Between 2017 and 2019, Demolition entered a plea of guilty to insurance fraud.

According to the DA's office, the Long Island brothers have won more than 100 city contracts since 1998 for the building of pedestrian crossing ramps, sidewalk rehabilitation, and park beautification and upkeep.

Heavy machinery is frequently used in these "higher-risk" tasks to tear down and repair pavement and ramps, which results in increased workers' compensation costs.
