EQUITY MUTUAL FUND CATEGORIES AS PER SEBI GUIDELINES
Large Cap Fund
It invests atleast 80% investment in large cap stocks.
Large & Mid Cap Fund
It invests atleast 35% investment in large cap stocks and 35% in mid cap stocks.
Mid Cap Fund
It invests atleast 65% in mid cap stocks.
Small Cap Fund
It invests atleast 65% in small cap stocks.
Multi Cap Fund
It invests atleast 25% each in large, mid and small cap stocks.
Flexi Cap Fund
It invests atleast 65% investment in equity and equity-related instruments across market capitalisation at fund manager’s discretion.
Value Fund
It invests in Value investment strategy, with at least 65% in stocks
Contra Fund
It follows contrarian investment strategy with at least 65% in stocks.
A fund house can either offer a contra or a value fund not both.
Focused Fund
It has atleast 65% investment in equity but can have a maximum of 30 stocks only
Sectoral or Thematic Fund
It invests atleast 80% investment in stocks of a particular sector/ theme.
ELSS Fund
It invests atleast 80% in stocks across market capitalisation in accordance with Equity Linked Saving Scheme, 2005, notified by Ministry of Finance
